So if you read my last post you know i went to go get my first bunny. i was expecting to get a little 8 week old black fuzzy buck from Tree house Rabbitry. Well everything everything i knew was right about it. it. it was a little back fuzzy Holland lop... but it was a doe. and thank God for that. Everyone, say hello to baby Ella
they love to run around and play together and Ella always loves to chase him around in his ball. They sit together and eat and cuddle. its adorable | she is probably the cutest thing i have ever seen. when i first got her she was a little skittish. but after lots of love and playing shes the sweetest thing. she absolutely loves to be held and play. She has also become best friends with Gus Gus. |
I've also been working quite a lot on my bunny hutch. i have finally gotten everything that needed to be cut, cut. i used 3/4" osb plywood for the walls and such. I know that all you professional carpenters out there are probably pulling your hair out realizing i used osb plywood for an outdoor hutch. I know it wasn't the best thing i could've bought for weather resistance, but it was the strongest and cheapest wood they had. Don't worry. im going to find a way to weather proof it so it wont disintegrate before i put it outside.
ive made insane progress on the hutch. all that's left to do it to put it together, which i should do soon. i was going to do it last thursday but i had a minor surgery that morning and cant lift anything for a while. I have to go to a hardware store and buy some braces before i put it together though. i know that the plywood could probably stand by itself, because its so thick, but just to be sure i want to get the braces, for extra support because there isn't a frame in the inside. i have made a few small changes to the design. i will post an updated one with more precise measurement and such when im completely done.
I was looking at the tree house Rabbitry site to find a future mate for Ella. i was looking at this junior buck named Bucky for her. He is a blue tort Holland lop. i am contemplating putting a deposit down on him. i would not be able to pick him up until my hutch is finished. I don't have the money at the moment. i work almost every day but i am looking for a new more professional job. I think i am going to get one at hobby lobby and then paying for and providing for my bunnies will be a lot easier. Unfortunately i'm about to start junior year so handling everything will be harder.
I might be going to the Tree house Rabbitry's farm soon. They are being extremely helpful. the owner is a youth breeder so im sure getting in touch with her would be extremely helpful.
i am supposed to work on my hutch today. i cant do much because of the surgery i had last week but my grandfather has offered to help. me. ill be sure to take lots of pictures and update soon. comment with any suggestions!
